Kansas Taxpayer Protection Pledge Information

The Taxpayers Protection Pledge is an important tool.  It helps voters separate out the fiscal frauds from those who will commit to hold the spending line to taxpayers.  It also is a yardstick for measuring legislators and other elected officials ability to stand by their pledge.  Is their word good or not?

If you want to check the elected officials general fiscal soundness you combine the Taxpayers Protection Pledge with the Kansas Taxpayers Network's annual legislative vote rating.  Most of the pledge signers have excellent or good vote ratings.  Sadly, their are legislators who have voted to raise taxes in violation of their pledge.  If you check KTN's vote rating in 2002 when there were several tax hike votes you can compare this with the Taxpayer Pledge signer list.

There are several pledge signers who have voted to raise taxes and this is part of a national problem.  Americans for Tax Reform has a Hall of Shame for those who violate their pledge.
